Accountant
Our established construction firm is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our financial team. Responsibilities:
- Manage comprehensive accounts payable functions, including vendor invoice processing, payment scheduling, and maintenance of vendor relationships
- Oversee accounts receivable operations, including invoice generation, payment tracking, collection activities, and customer account reconciliation
- Execute billing processes for multiple construction projects, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all client invoicing
- Perform detailed job costing analysis for construction projects, tracking labor, materials, equipment, and overhead expenses against project budgets
- Maintain and reconcile job cost reports to provide accurate financial data for project management decision-making
- Utilize Sage accounting software to process transactions, generate financial reports, and maintain general ledger accounts
- Conduct regular account reconciliations, including bank statements, credit card accounts, and intercompany transactions
- Monitor project budgets and provide variance analysis to identify cost overruns or savings opportunities
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures
- Maintain organized and accurate financial records in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
- Coordinate with project managers to ensure proper documentation and allocation of project-related expenses
- Support internal and external audit processes by providing requested documentation and explanations
Requirements:
- Minimum of three years of accounting experience, preferably within the construction or skilled trades industry
- Demonstrated proficiency in accounts payable and accounts receivable management
- Proven experience with billing processes and procedures
- Strong job costing knowledge and practical application experience
- Advanced proficiency with Sage accounting software
- Solid working knowledge of QuickBooks
- Thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all work product
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to create and manipulate spreadsheets and financial models
- Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a collaborative team
- Professional demeanor and ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information
