About Mana Maoli:
Mana Maoli is a Native Hawaiian nonprofit dedicated to strengthening the ike, creativity, leadership, and well-being of Hawaii's youth through culture, music, education, and community engagement. Through our Mana Mele Project, artist mentorships, multimedia programs, school partnerships, and community events, we serve thousands of youth and families across Hawaii each year.

Position Overview:
Mana Maoli is seeking a detail-oriented and mission-driven Bookkeeper / Entry-Level Accountant to support the financial health and sustainability of our organization.

This position will assist with day-to-day bookkeeping, financial recordkeeping, grant and program tracking, reporting, payroll support, and other accounting-related functions. The ideal candidate is organized, reliable, comfortable working with numbers, and interested in supporting a nonprofit dedicated to empowering Hawaii's youth and communities.

Primary Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate financial records in Quickbooks
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
Reconcile bank accounts and electronic payment systems (for example Paypal)
Assist with payroll administration and related reporting
Support grant budget tracking and expenditure monitoring
Assist with the preparation of financial reports
Maintain financial documentation and digital records
Coordinate with External CPA, Auditors, and Tax Professionals
Perform other finance and administrative duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge of basic accounting principles and bookkeeping practices, including GAAP, Accounts Payable (A/P) , Accounts Receivable (A/R), payroll support, reconciliations, and monthly close.
2 Years Experience with QuickBooks or comparable accounting software
Trustworthy and dependable, with a strong sense of accountability and follow-through
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
Ability to manage multiple priorities

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with nonprofit organizations
Familiarity with grant-funded programs and reporting
Experience supporting audits or financial compliance processes
Experience with 1099 reporting and General Excise Tax (GET) compliance
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred (Equivalent experience may be considered)
