Supervise day-to-day accounting operations. Assistant controllers collect data from support staff and prepare reports for senior management. They monitor accounts and ensure that financial information is always up to date and accurate. They may also be responsible for resource distribution and annual budget management.
Because they may lead teams of other accounting personnel, assistant controllers must have strong management skills. They should also have an advanced understanding of generally accepted accounting principles as well as the regulations and laws influencing financial practices in their industry.
