Position Overview:

A dynamic and growing real estate services firm is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Supervisor to oversee day-to-day accounting operations for a portfolio of commercial properties. This role will play a critical part in ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with accounting standards. Acting as a bridge between accounting, property management, and asset management teams, the position supports financial operations and reporting for managed assets and investor entities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the monthly close process for assigned properties, including posting journal entries, reviewing accruals, and reconciling general ledger accounts.

  • Finalize monthly financial reports and variance analysis to ensure accuracy and completeness.

  • Maintain and monitor internal controls to uphold financial integrity and adherence to corporate policies.

  • Manage accounts receivable, cash transactions, and fixed asset records including capitalizations and depreciation schedules.

  • Support the preparation of annual budgets and reforecasts.

  • Handle reconciliations for CAM charges, property taxes, and insurance allocations.

  • Collaborate with operations and asset teams to respond to financial inquiries and provide analytical support.

  • Review lease terms to ensure accurate revenue recognition and financial compliance.

  • Lead investor accounting functions, including investor setup, fund distributions, deal tracking, and financial reporting.

  • Assist with year-end financial audits for private equity funds and support external audit processes.

  • Contribute to accounting system upgrades, automation projects, and continuous process improvements.

  • Supervise and mentor a team of property accountants, providing training, feedback, and development opportunities.

  • Uphold high standards for accuracy, timeliness, and accountability in all reporting and communications.

  • Promote a collaborative work culture with an emphasis on efficiency and service to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Maintain consistency, professionalism, and integrity in all financial and team leadership activities.

Qualifications:
  • BA in Accounting or related field.

  • Minimum 7 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.

  • Real estate or property management accounting experience strongly preferred.

  • CPA license preferred or currently pursuing certification.

  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, especially in relation to real estate and revenue recognition.

  • Experience with property management accounting systems; Yardi Voyager preferred.
