Title: Accountant Intern

Department: Finance

Reports to: Vice President and Director of Finance

Summary

The Accountant Intern will work closely with staff to learn the daily responsibilities of the Finance Department as they relate to Audience Services operations. This will include learning the organization's structure and accounting functions, becoming familiar with accounting software and procedures, and gaining exposure to reconciliation procedures, cash controls, and financial reporting processes. The objective of this internship is to help develop real-world skills in a professional work environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Record daily cash and credit card transactions.
  • Record performance settlement reports.
  • Process invoices using proper coding and follow the workflow approval process.
  • Prepare sample and preliminary invoices.
  • Learn the customer communication process and assist where needed.
  • Review monthly financial statements to gain exposure to the financial reporting process.

Education/Experience:

Current undergraduate student preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Beginner to intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office; skills will be further developed through collaboration with team members.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with a willingness to learn and grow.
  • Desire to work collaboratively as part of a team and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask and organize information.
  • Ability to learn new software, processes, and work-related skills.
  • Self-motivated, analytical, and proactive, with a willingness to ask questions.
