Position Summary:

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing weekly multi-state payroll, reviewing timecards, resolving discrepancies, and supporting employees and clients with professionalism and urgency. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to navigate high-volume staffing payroll.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Processing - Process high-volume weekly payroll with accuracy and compliance across multiple states.
Timecard Review - Audit hours, verify approvals, and resolve missing or incorrect entries.
Employee Support - Assist employees with pay questions, direct deposit updates, and paystub requests.
Compliance Management - Ensure adherence to state/federal wage laws, sick pay rules, garnishments, and company policies.
Client Communication - Partner with branch managers and clients to clarify assignments, pay rates, and corrections.
Data Accuracy - Maintain clean records, audit payroll entries, and support reporting needs.

Qualifications:

1-2 years of payroll experience (staffing industry preferred)
Strong understanding of wage & hour laws (CA experience highly preferred)
High accuracy, strong follow-through, and ability to meet strict deadlines
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Proficiency with payroll system TempWorks Enterprise and Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel

Compensation:

Compensation for this position will be determined based on the candidates experience, qualifications, and performance during the interview process. Direct Staffing LLC evaluates each applicant individually to ensure pay is aligned with demonstrated skills, payroll knowledge, and the ability to support highvolume, multistate operations. Final compensation will be discussed with candidates who advance in the hiring process.
