Project Accountant
About the Position
As a mid-level Project Accountant in the Accounting group, you will be responsible for invoicing, project setup, assisting with ASC 606 revenue recognition, and various other financial/accounting tasks as they relate to NEIs portfolio of projects. This position also works closely with the Project Services team on various tasks to support project operations. Strong organizational skills are required to plan, prioritize, and organize a diversified workload in a fast-paced environment. A successful candidate possesses structure, attention to detail, and a positive, team-orientated attitude.
Salary Range: $63,000 - $85,000 / year
The salary range above is based upon the Denver, Colorado labor market.
This opportunity is available to both local / in-office (Lakewood, CO) and full-time remote candidates.
Essential Responsibilities
Executes all aspects of the invoicing process for assigned portfolio of tier 1 and tier 2 projects/project managers
Collaborates with full-time, PMP certified project managers and clients to ensure all parties are synchronized on the invoicing process/requirements for each client account
Completes lien waivers, payment applications, SOVs, etc. to facilitate client payments
Follow-up with clients on past due balances and resolve client invoice inquiries
Setup and/or review setup of new projects in ERP system; ensure project setup aligns with contract details
Maintains data integrity in ERP system as it relates to projects, especially revenue methods/recognition, project structure, and cost tracking
Assists with annual audit inquiries relating to projects and ensure proper documentation is maintained throughout the year in support of the annual audit
Understands implications of various project financial inputs on ASC 606 revenue recognition and advise project managers accordingly
Reviews timesheets/payroll to verify that hours are charged to correct projects
Assists the Project Accounting Manager with ad hoc projects as needed
A notary is not required at start, will be required to be obtained upon starting
Must Have
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Experience: 3+ years of experience as Project Accountant in the architecture, engineering, or construction industry
Experience with ASC 606 Revenue Recognition is highly preferred
Experience with ERP systems
Proficiency in Deltek Vantagepoint is highly preferential, proficiency/experience with other Deltek software products is highly advantageous
High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Outlook, and Word with a positive attitude towards new technology
Exceptional interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills; ability to interact successfully at all levels of the organization; demonstrates high emotional intelligence
Professional, articulate, and able to exercise good independent judgement and discretion
Demonstrated ability to take initiative, successfully handle, delegate, and prioritize multiple competing tasks and effectively manage deadlines
Highly organized, motivated self-starter
Proven record of delivering a high standard of quality work with exceptional attention to detail
Comfortable working with ambiguity and creating systems and plans where there are none
