STARTING SALARY: $62,976.61Position Summary
The Audit Clerk III serves as an advanced, audit support position within the audit function. This role performs complex audit procedures, evaluates internal controls, supports risk assessments, and assists the Senior Auditor and Finance leadership with audits, investigations, and special projects. The Clerk III exercises independent judgment, mentors lower-level staff, and contributes to process improvements and audit planning.

Day-to-day workflow, assignments, and technical guidance are coordinated by the Senior Audit Clerk, who serves as the operational lead for daily activities.
Essential Job Functions
Perform complex audits of toll revenue systems, CSC operations, EZPass activity, and cash controls.
Analyze trends, patterns, and variances to identify financial, operational, and compliance risks.
Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and recommend process improvements.
Assist the Senior Auditor in audit planning, risk assessments, and special reviews.
Prepare detailed audit documentation, summaries, and preliminary findings for management review.
Serve as a subject-matter resource for toll revenue audit processes and systems.
Provide technical guidance to Audit Clerks I and II.
Coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders to resolve audit issues.
Support internal and external audits by providing data, analysis, and documentation.
Escalate complex or unresolved matters to the Senior Auditor as appropriate.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills and Knowledge
Working knowledge of accounting principles, audit standards, and internal controls.
Advanced analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial and operational data.
Ability to identify risks, control gaps, and improvement opportunities
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and audit data analysis techniques.
Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
High level of integrity, objectivity, and discretion.
Training: Associates degree in accounting or finance required.
Experience: Four (4) or more years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, auditing, or financial operations, including experience in banking, account management, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Public-sector audit experience preferred.
