Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting and one year of accounting experience; OR Bachelor's degree to include 9 semester credits in Accounting and one year of accounting experience; OR one year of satisfactory performance as an Accountant 1 in the County service is required; OR five years of Accounting experience may substitute for the required four years of college education.
Recruitment Notes
This position will be operating as an Accountant 2 within the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Finance Division. This position spearheads complex financial oversight and disbursement validation within the Accounts Payable infrastructure. The Accountant 2 executes advanced general ledger reconciliations, conducts comprehensive expenditure analyses, and generates specialized operational reports to monitor departmental spending. Core accounts payable responsibilities include auditing 3-way matching discrepancies, processing vendor disbursements, vetting purchase order compliance, auditing multi-fund reclassifications, and executing final administrative approvals for vendor invoices and journal entries. Additionally, this role acts as a primary technical resource for resolving vendor payment exceptions and troubleshooting transaction errors specifically within the Accounts Payable and General Ledger modules of the County's INFORMS ERP network.
