We are seeking a Managed Care Accountant to join our team at Independent Living Systems (ILS). About the Role:
The Managed Care Accountant plays an essential role in overseeing and managing the financial aspects of managed care contracts. The Managed Care Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate accounting, reconciliation, and reporting of managed care revenues and expenses, which directly impacts the organization's financial health and compliance. The Managed Care Accountant requires collaboration with finance, operations and administrative teams to analyze contract terms, monitor performance, and resolve discrepancies. The Managed Care Accountant will also support budgeting and forecasting activities related to managed care products, providing insights that drive data-driven decision-making. Ultimately, the Managed Care Accountant ensures that managed care financial processes are efficient, compliant, and aligned with organizational goals.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3 years of experience in finance or accounting.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles methodologies.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation.
- Advanced skills in data analytics and financial modeling.
- Experience working in a large healthcare system or insurance company.
Responsibilities:

- Conduct accounting and reconciliation of managed care contracts, including capitation payments, fee-for-service claims, and risk-sharing arrangements.
- Analyze contract terms and financial data to ensure accurate revenue recognition and expense allocation.
- Collaborate with finance and other internal teams to resolve discrepancies and support contract negotiations.
- Prepare detailed financial reports and summaries related to managed care performance for internal stakeholders.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and audit activities related to managed care products and financial operations.
- Ensure monthly journal entries (non-actuarial), bank reconciliations and workpapers are updated and completed timely for review as appropriate.
- Monitor cash exceptions and returns daily, elevating any concerns with approvals or reissues as appropriate.
- Maintain journal entry binders, ensuring all entries are printed with proper approval and backup support.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
