Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED. Three years of experience processing legal/public records and/or performing courtroom/public hearing procedures to include one year of related supervisory, advanced technical, specialized clerical or administrative experience are required. Completion of coursework may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

POSITION SUMMARY
This classification serves as a key member of the Civil Appeals Unit. The incumbent is responsible for monitoring time standards and productivity, performing cashiering and administrative functions, and filing and transmitting Notices of Appeal and other pleadings through the State of Florida's E-Filing Portal. The role also includes receiving and processing orders from the Third District Court of Appeal. In addition, the incumbent disseminates work to subordinate staff and monitors adherence to time standards in accordance with the Rules of Appellate Procedure. This position also assists the Department with monitoring employee performance, as well as various applications and programs, and works collaboratively with members from other units and departments to support daily operations. This position is critical to the success of the unit and its operations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Technical knowledge of systems utilized within the Civil Courts Department.
- Knowledge of the Florida Rules of Appellate Procedure.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with effective time management, problem-solving, and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously to meet mandated deadlines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the Civil Appeals Unit, consisting of six employees and an Assistant Supervisor.
- Assist subordinate staff with complex or unusual situations within the EJ (Enterprise Justice) system.
- Perform daily cashiering management procedures, including opening and closing registers.
- Transmit Notices of Appeal to the Third District Court of Appeal on a daily basis.
- Receive and docket orders and acknowledgment letters from the Third District Court of Appeal.
- Research, recommend, coordinate, and implement system changes, including testing for upgrades.
- Monitor productivity and ensure adherence to performance standards within the unit.
- Prepare monthly statistical and narrative reports summarizing unit activities for the Director.
- Develop short and long term goals for the unit, and implement and monitor progress toward those goals.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong organizational and written communication skills.
- Ability to analyze complex data and ensure accuracy.
- Strong problem solving and decision making skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is primarily performed in an office environment, with frequent interaction with customers, attorneys, judiciary, and staff. The role requires extended periods of sitting and working on a computer. May involve light lifting (up to 10 lbs).
