JOB OVERVIEW: The purpose of this position is to perform the accounts payable function for all County departments. This position acts under the supervision of the Purchasing Manager.

RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • The purpose of this position is to perform the accounts payable function for all County departments.
  • Issues payments as necessary.
  • Responds to inquiries from vendors, county staff, and department heads about accounts payable.
  • Scans invoices into financial software.
  • Answers and responds to vendor and departmental telephone calls.
  • Verifies and balances all banks for each check run.
  • Maintains check register for Risk Management.
  • Reconciles the County credit card statement against approved credit card authorization forms.
  • Disseminates all check for accounts payable, including Jury, Elections, payroll and emergencies.
  • Data entry of vendor invoice information into the County's financial software.
  • Date stamp all incoming mail and emailed invoices.
  • Identify and verify that year end payments are processed and paid out of the correct year.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • General/technical high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Two to three years experience working as an account clerk.
  • Additional accounting training and/or course work desired.
