Kelly is seeking a Senior Accountant to work for our client, a small manufacturing organization, on a direct hire basis. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys operating independently, taking ownership of the accounting function, and growing into a future leadership opportunity. The Senior Accountant will work closely with the current Controller and is expected to transition into the Controller role upon the incumbent’s planned retirement.

This position offers a unique opportunity for long-term growth and succession planning within the organization while remaining deeply involved in the day-to-day execution of accounting activities. This role does not currently include direct people management responsibilities.

The Senior Accountant will:



    	

  • Manage daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities

    	

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports

    	

  • Monitor cash flow, banking activity, and financial performance to support company objectives

    	

  • Assist with the development and maintenance of budgets, forecasts, and financial projections

    	

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations and reporting requirements

    	

  • Coordinate and assist with audits, tax preparation, and year-end financial activities

    	

  • Maintain and improve internal accounting controls and financial procedures

    	

  • Review job costing, labor tracking, and manufacturing-related financial data for accuracy and efficiency

    	

  • Support management with financial analysis, cost reduction initiatives, and operational decision-making

    	

  • Oversee payroll processes and ensure accurate reporting and recordkeeping

    	

  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and employee information

    	

  • Collaborate with department managers regarding budgets, expenditures, and financial planning

    	

  • Assist with insurance reporting, benefit administration coordination, and other administrative financial responsibilities as needed

    	

  • Support ERP system accuracy and financial data integrity

    	

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies

    	

  • Work closely with the current Controller to gain exposure to higher-level financial leadership responsibilities and ensure a smooth future transition

Qualifications:



    	

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred

    	

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience

    	

  • Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments

    	

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting practices

    	

  • Proficiency in accounting software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel

    	

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

    	

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment

    	

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

    	

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

    	

  • Understanding of manufacturing accounting and job costing preferred

    	

  • Demonstrated interest in professional growth and future accounting leadership responsibilities
