The AIS Infrastructure Group consists of four heavy civil construction companies. Our services include infrastructure improvement, heavy civil construction, and site development for government and state agencies and private enterprise across the United States. We do a wide variety of heavy civil projects, including highways, bridges, DOT work, power plants, dams, reservoirs, underground utilities, and more.
GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for overseeing the payroll functions and processes within the AIS Infrastructure organization. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing and compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The Payroll Specialist must possess a strong knowledge of payroll procedures, tax regulations, and labor laws, and adhere to AIS Infrastructure's safety standards and protocols.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process and review payroll data, including employee hours, benefits, and deductions.
- Ensureaccuratecalculation and timely distribution of payroll payments to employees.
- Verify payroll information for accuracy, resolve any discrepancies, and answer payroll-related inquiries.
- Prepare andsubmitpayroll reports, tax filings, and other payroll-related documentation.
- Stay updated on changes in payroll regulations, tax laws, and labor laws to ensure compliance.
REQUIRED JOB SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Proficient knowledge of payroll processing and related software systems.
- Strong understanding of payroll laws, tax regulations, and labor laws.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in processing payroll data.
- Ability tomaintainconfidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in accounting,finance, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of5years of experience in payroll processing or related field.
- Knowledge and ability to filecertified payrolls for our projects.
- Familiarity with payroll software systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, etc.).
- Proficient in using Microsoft Excel and other relevant software applications.
- Experience with heavy civil construction payroll is preferred.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is a plus.
- Familiarity and experience with Viewpoint Vista software is a big plus.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT & CONDITIONS
- Office-based environment with standard office equipment.
- Minimal exposure to hazards or safety considerations.
- Regular working hours, Monday throughFriday, with occasional overtime during peak periods.
- Limited travel requirements, if applicable.
