Construction Accounts Payable Specialist

A growing construction organization in the Winston-Salem area is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to support high-volume AP operations within a fast-paced project-based environment. This role is ideal for someone with construction accounting experience who understands job costing, vendor compliance, and subcontractor documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process high-volume invoices with accuracy and timeliness, ensuring proper coding and approvals

  • Perform three-way matching (invoice, purchase order, receiving documentation) where applicable

  • Manage weekly check runs, ACH, and wire payments

  • Maintain vendor records, including W-9s, insurance certificates, and compliance documentation (lien waivers, etc.)

  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies with internal teams and subcontractors

  • Support job costing and project accounting functions

  • Collaborate with project managers, field teams, and accounting staff to ensure accurate cost tracking

  • Assist with month-end close activities and reporting needs

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of accounts payable experience; construction industry experience required

  • Experience working in high-volume AP environments

  • Proficiency in a construction ERP system

  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs a plus)

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
