Junior Accounting Specialist Location: Southfield, MI ( Onsite) Type: Full-Time About the Role Rock City Logistics is growing, and our back office needs to move as fast as our sales floor. We are looking for a Junior AP/AR Specialist who lives and breathes spreadsheets. This isn't a "data entry" job-it's a data strategy job. You will be the engine that ensures our carriers get paid on time and our revenue is tracked with surgical precision. If you hear "VLOOKUP" or "Pivot Table" and get excited, you belong here. What You'll Do (The Day-to-Day) Master the Flow: Manage the full cycle of Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) using our internal TMS and specialized Excel models. Audit & Reconcile: Spot discrepancies between carrier invoices and customer quotes before they become problems. Optimize the "Grid": Build and maintain Excel trackers that summarize weekly aging reports and payment cycles. Problem Solve: Communicate with our sales team and external partners to resolve billing "snags" with speed and professionalism. Automate the Boring Stuff: Use your Excel skills to turn manual, hour-long tasks into 5-minute automated processes. We're Looking for Someone Who: Is an Excel Wizard: You don't just "know" Excel; you own it. You are comfortable with Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs/XLOOKUPs, IF statements, and conditional formatting. (If you know Macros or Power Query, that's a huge plus). Is "Logistics-Ready": You thrive in a fast-paced environment and don't get flustered by high volumes of data. You're able to prioritize time and assess what is the highest priority whether it is a credit check, determining if a customer should receive more credit, or quick paying a carrier to keep our carrier relationship strong. Has the "Accounting Brain": You have a foundational understanding of debits, credits, and general ledgers (Entry-level experience or a recent degree is great). Is Detail Obsessed: You notice the $0.01 difference that everyone else missed.
