Senior Construction Accountant Location: Garden City, New York, USA Employment Type: Full-Time Work Arrangement: Fully Onsite, 5 Days per Week About the Opportunity A growing construction and infrastructure contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Construction Accountant to support the financial operations of a busy project-driven business. The company delivers complex construction, civil and specialist contracting projects across the New York metropolitan area and is continuing to expand its operations. This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of core accounting and bookkeeping functions within a fast-moving environment. The successful candidate will work closely with leadership, operations teams and external accounting partners to help maintain accurate financial controls and support ongoing business growth. Key Responsibilities Manage full-cycle bookkeeping and daily accounting activities Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes Prepare journal entries, reconciliations and financial records Administer construction billing and requisition processes Track job costs, project allocations and profitability reporting Coordinate vendor payments and assist with cash flow monitoring Partner with project and operations teams on financial tracking Maintain organized and accurate accounting documentation Support monthly and quarterly financial reporting activities Contribute to accounting workflow improvements and process efficiency initiatives Requirements Minimum 5 years of experience in construction accounting or construction bookkeeping Strong knowledge of job costing, work-in-progress reporting and construction billing processes Experience within subcontractor, specialist contractor or project-based construction environments preferred Strong organizational and communication skills Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities Comfortable working in a fast-paced and evolving business environment Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel Benefits Health, dental and vision insurance Long-term career growth opportunities within an expanding organization
