Tax Auditor 1 (Underfill for Tax Auditor 2)

The Idaho State Tax Commission is recruiting for Tax Auditor 1 positions (Underfill for Tax Auditor 2) in the Audit Division within the Sales and Income Tax Bureaus in Idaho Falls, Idaho. (See tax types in the Responsibilities section below.)

Tax auditors interact with taxpayers and their representatives to verify the accuracy of tax returns and prepare reports of findings, conclusions, or recommendations. The Audit team is our first line of defense in protecting Idaho citizens from sophisticated fraud. We pride ourselves on quality work, professionalism, and customer service.

What You Need for Success

+ Develop knowledge of state and federal tax laws, rules, and regulations as they apply to various taxes.

+ Develop a broad knowledge of the fundamental doctrines, theories, principles, and terminology of accountancy ( GAAP ).

+ Develop knowledge to analyze and/or audit financial records and documents, accounting systems, financial statements, work papers, budgets, tax and payroll records and other related documents.

+ Be resourceful and research tax issues encountered in an audit.

+ Interpret and apply tax laws to individual and business situations.

+ Discuss tax issues using various resources to support your decision.

+ Apply and understand ethics and confidentiality laws.

+ Effectively and professionally communicate both orally and in writing.
