The Project Accountant is responsible for managing the financial aspects of construction projects, with a strong focus on job costing, cost tracking, and projectlevel financial reporting. This role partners closely with project managers and operations teams to ensure accurate cost control, billing, and financial visibility throughout the life of each project.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and manage job cost accounting for multiple construction projects
Set up new projects and cost codes in the accounting system
Track project costs including labor, materials, subcontractors, equipment, and overhead
Review and analyze job cost reports to identify variances and potential cost overruns
Work closely with Project Managers to review budgets, forecasts, and project performance
Process and review subcontractor invoices, lien waivers, and supporting documentation
Support progress billing, percentageofcompletion accounting, and revenue recognition
Prepare and post projectrelated journal entries and accruals
Reconcile job cost accounts and support monthend close activities
Assist with change order tracking and financial impact analysis
Support audit requests and provide project documentation as needed
Participate in ad hoc reporting and special projects related to project accounting and cost analysis
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Prior construction accounting experience required
Handson experience with job costing and projectbased accounting
Familiarity with construction billing methods (progress billing, AIA billing, percentage of completion)
Strong understanding of cost codes, budgets, and project financial reporting
Proficiency with Excel; experience with construction accounting or ERP systems preferred
Pay Details: $60,000.00 to $70,000.00 per year
