Thank you! Accounting Clerk The Fort Wayne Housing Authority (FWHA) is seeking a detail oriented and dependable Accounting Clerk to support our finance and administrative operations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring landlords, vendors, and partners are paid accurately and on time, while also providing essential administrative support across the organization. All work supports FWHA's mission, strategic goals, and commitment to providing high quality affordable housing services. Key Responsibilities Process rent, Housing Assistance Payments (HAP), and Utility Reimbursement Payments (URP). Review rent and HAP charges bi weekly to ensure accuracy. Approve and post charges for all Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP) landlords. Initiate and process EFT and paper check payments. Communicate with tenants, housing specialists, landlords, and vendors regarding payments, utility reimbursements, ledger balances, and payment methods. Review vendor statements, resolve inquiries, and code contract invoices for leadership approval. Process invoices weekly and maintain organized physical and electronic accounts payable files, including vendor portal accounts. Review and print annual 1099s. Update monthly accruals for prepaid expenses, including computer support and insurance. Run resident activity reports and review tenant ledger entries; maintain spreadsheets, journals, and supporting documentation. Process asset updates related to appliance changes and assist with year end asset reporting in Yardi. Assist with bank reconciliations and report utility energy usage and costs as required. Receive, sort, and distribute mail to appropriate staff for follow up. Perform general administrative duties as assigned. Promote FWHA brand standards and help communicate the public value of affordable housing and related programs. Education & Experience Some college coursework in Accounting or a related field, along with administrative experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered. Technical Skills & Qualifications Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to learn additional software programs as needed. Experience with Yardi is a plus.
