VST Engineering in Palo Alto is seeking a hybrid full-time Cost Estimator, with a preference for 2 days per week, negotiable. Familiarity with the bay area market is a requirement. Job Responsibilities: - Assist project management teams in preparing construction cost estimates. - Generate budgetary estimates based on conceptual designs and specifications. - Review and reconcile cost estimates from third-party firms for quality assurance. - Conduct cost reasonableness reviews and facilitate estimate adjudication. - Evaluate design drawings, specifications, and quantity takeoffs. - Coordinate estimate documentation, updates, and closure. - Maintain estimate metadata in the estimating database. - Manage standard cost estimating tools, templates, and software. - Perform life-cycle cost analyses to identify cost-effective options. - Specialize in project cost estimating for various project types. - Proficiency in unit cost estimating standards like RS Means. - Interpret design drawings and collaborate with designers, engineers, and contractors. - Utilize cost estimating computing software and MS Office tools effectively. - Familiarity with DOE G 413.3 Cost Estimating Guide is advantageous. - Industry certifications in cost estimating are preferred but not mandatory.
