They collect, verify, and interpret reports or statements submitted by support staff; maintain important department records; prepare special reports on request; and create/adapt internal financial controls as necessary. They also ensure that the organization meets federal, state, and local compliance laws.
Controllers are responsible for reporting to upper-level executives regarding the company’s annual budget, overall financial state, and financial alignment with operations. They provide input on large-scale company decisions and may collaborate with external accounting personnel.
