Senior Payroll Specialist Job Description As a Senior Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for complex payroll processing while ensuring compliance with all provincial laws, regulations, and union requirements. You will maintain the accuracy of wage calculations, withholdings, deductions, and changes. Your role involves reconciling and identifying risks to prevent issues with accuracy, timeliness, and production, as well as recommending and taking appropriate action to address identified issues. You will ensure compliance with all applicable federal, local, state, wage, and hour laws, review payroll processes to align with company philosophy, and recommend internal control or efficiency enhancements. You will also create and run requested reports, identify union updates affecting payroll configuration, maintain payroll files and records, assist with audits, and complete bank and tax reconciliations. Responsibilities Process complex payrolls accurately and efficiently. Ensure compliance with provincial, federal, state, and union laws and regulations. Reconcile payroll data and identify risks to prevent issues. Make recommendations and take action to address payroll issues. Create and run reports including year-end data and union fringes. Maintain payroll files and records in compliance with legal requirements. Assist with internal and external audits. Complete bank and tax reconciliations by payroll, quarter, and year. Maintain employee confidentiality and protect payroll operations. Essential Skills 3+ years of multi-state payroll processing experience. 3+ years of union payroll processing experience. High technical ability with intermediate/expert Excel usage, including pivot tables and V-lookups. 1+ year of certified payroll processing experience. Additional Skills & Qualifications 2+ years of Workday experience or similar systems experience. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field. CPP certification preferred. Work Environment The position offers a 100% remote work option with primarily CST hours. If local, candidates have the option to work out of the St. Paul, MN office 1-3 days a week, where they will have direct interaction with the manager in a nice office space. The team is large, consisting of over 20 people, providing ample support and collaboration opportunities.
