Basic Purpose
The Quality Manager is responsible for the management of SEWS Quality Management Systems, ensuring compliance with customer and ISO/IATF requirements. Key responsibilities of this position include 1) Investigation of customer complaints, submission of corrective action and performance of effectiveness audits, 2) Change point management, 3) Control of nonconforming material and containment actions, 4) Support of Calibration systems, 5) Management of the QA Lab product testing activities, 6) and other quality requirements as necessary.
Basic Position Duties
- QMS Management: Provide leadership and vision for the maintenance of SEWS QMS systems. Includes support of both internal and external IATF16949 audits, ensuring plant compliance with Standard requirements. Communicate QMS requirements throughout the organization, identify gaps against the standard and coordinate activities to ensure plantwide compliance. The position requires understanding of core tools and the skills needed to manage key quality systems: PPAP/Control Plans/FMEA's/Attribute Studies/Gage R&R/MSA/Corrective action 8D&5Why, Document Control systems, etc.
- Corrective Action: Actively manage the corrective action system, ensuring that KPI's are identified and met (on time submission / effectiveness audits, etc), and that the claim log(s) are maintained up to date. Ensure that department resources are aligned to react quickly to customer complaints and inquiries (initial cross functional team meetings, 3D submission, root cause identification, 8D submission, effectiveness audits), ensuring that customer specific requirements related to claims are met. Requires the ability to recognize and prioritize serious quality issues, ensuring that suspect product is identified and contained. Must be able to lead/support internal/external investigations to determine root cause and countermeasure. Mentor engineers/supervisors/others in 8D/5Why problem solving methods as necessary.
- Process Change Management: Responsible to manage process change requirements. Notify customers in advance of changes in production location / capacity tools / etc. to ensure quick customer approvals. Manage SCR submissions, RU ready audits, product trials, product validation activities, first shipments to customers and other related requirements to manage changes.
- Communication: Ability to analyze data and gather pertinent facts and clearly communicate these findings/action plans to management groups / customers / suppliers. Lead meetings as required, including monthly management reviews as necessary. Communicate performance expectations to staff and achieve anticipated results. Create documents to identify objectives and report clear results. Present findings to management/customers/suppliers.
- Auditing: Perform/manage internal audits required to ensure compliance with SWS Global Standards, ISO/IATF Standards and customer requirements. This includes process audits, RU Ready audits (new tools/processes), Safety audits, work compliance audits of operators and other audits as assigned. Must keep excellent records of audit findings and non-conformances, and must manage/report completion progress for open items.
- Containment Management: This position is responsible to ensure the accurage identification of suspect product ranges, as well as the effective containment and disposition (scrap/sort) of suspect product. Responsible for daily support of QA Hold activities. This position ensures that QA staff is effectively trained in the use of backtracking work instructions and forms, and is responsible for confirmation activities to ensure backtracking reports are complete and correct. This position works closely with Manufacturing and Production control to ensure that containment activities are also properly trained and followed in each related area.
- Supervision: Responsible for the supervision of direct reports; QA Lab Coordinator and QA Engineer(s). Responsible for overall management of QA Lab associates, ensuring proper resources/coverage are allocated. Management of associate issues are necessary (attendance/disciplinary issues, etc.) Promote operator skill improvements, including support of training programs such as Tool Boxes, DPT trainings, Open Operations audits, etc.
- Calibration: Management of calibration systems, ensuring that gages, master samples, jigs, etc are maintained in a calibrated state, and that records are updated monthly. Ensure MSA studies are completed as required. Lead calibration section of internal/external audits.
- Product Testing and Validation: Management of the QA testing lab, ensuring that product is tested to the specifications in a timely manner, and that any discrepancies are identified and dealt with in a timely manner (backtracking/quarantine). This position is responsible to investigate critical issues and for making quality decisions based on test results. Must develop a technical understanding of product function and design. - Improvement and Kaizen: Lead Kaizen teams, promote improvement suggestions, review and improve work instructions and processes.

Position Requirements
Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Quality Management or related field, accompanied with 3+ years of supervisory experience. Automotive experience in injection molding / wire harness is preferred. Exhibit knowledge/experience with quality management systems (ISO/IATF16949), corrective action systems, problem solving and auditing. Requires strong interpersonal and communication skills. Requires the ability "to roll up sleeves" and manage complex projects/issues.
