Payroll Specialist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist with strong expertise in PEOPLESOFT and advanced Excel skills to manage and process high volume payroll accurately and efficiently. The ideal candidate will excel at troubleshooting payroll issues, performing data analysis, and ensuring compliance with payroll policies and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Process on-cycle payroll using PeopleSoft, including troubleshooting, reviewing, and processing all Time & Labor components accurately and on schedule.

Perform detailed data review and analysis using Excel, with a strong emphasis on VLOOKUP and other functions, to identify discrepancies and improve payroll accuracy.

Investigate and resolve system discrepancies related to customized batch payroll processes in PeopleSoft that produce errors or fail to run successfully.

Collaborate closely with Workforce Administration (WFA), Benefits (BN), Payroll (PY), and General Ledger (GL) teams to ensure data integrity and prevent downstream issues.

Work with functional users to develop and optimize payroll-related business processes within PeopleSoft modules, supporting smooth payroll processing activities.

Coordinate with payroll teams to support extended and continuous payroll processing, communicating system requirements clearly.

Review payroll error logs, document system issues, and develop solutions to improve payroll processing efficiency.

Conduct trend analysis and provide support for troubleshooting payroll processing changes or anomalies.

Communicate payroll data, issues, and resolutions effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Ensure compliance with all relevant payroll laws, internal policies, and audit requirements throughout payroll cycles.

Qualifications:

Proven experience processing high volume payroll using PeopleSoft.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, especially proficiency in VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and data analysis functions.

Strong understanding of payroll, HR, benefits, and general ledger integration processes.

Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines with high accuracy.

Effective communication skills with the ability to explain complex payroll issues clearly.

High school diploma required; Associates or Bachelors degree in business, accounting, or related field preferred.
