Position Summary:
The Construction Accountant will oversee the day-to-day financial operations of multiple construction projects, ensuring accurate job costing, budget tracking, and compliance with financial and tax regulations. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and has a deep understanding of construction accounting practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage accounts payable/receivable, job costing, and general ledger activities
Prepare monthly financial statements and project cost reports
Track project budgets, contracts, change orders, and retainage
Work closely with project managers to monitor project performance and forecasting
Process payroll and certified payroll reports (if applicable)
Assist with year-end audits and tax preparation
Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and industry regulations
Reconcile bank and credit card accounts
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
3+ years of accounting experience in the construction industry required
Strong understanding of job costing, WIP schedules, and construction billing
Experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage 300 CRE, QuickBooks, or similar)
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication and organizational skills
