Job Title: Construction Accounting Clerk
Location: Rochester, NY
Job Type: Full-Time or Part-Time (Minimum 20 hours per week)
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Construction Accounting Clerk to join our team. This role is responsible for supporting the Livingston Associates and our clients with day-to-day financial tasks specific to the construction industry, including job costing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll support. This position offers flexibility and can be structured as either full-time or part-time, with a minimum commitment of 20 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:Process and code vendor invoices in accordance with job cost codes and company procedures
Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
Track and reconcile purchase orders, subcontractor invoices, and change orders
Maintain accurate and up-to-date job cost records
Assist with payroll processing, including tracking hours and verifying certified payroll compliance
Prepare bank deposits and reconcile bank statements
File and maintain accounting records and documentation
Perform general administrative and accounting tasks as needed
Qualifications:
Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage 300, Foundation, or Viewpoint)
Understanding of construction billing practices such as AIA forms and retention
Strong organizational and time management skills
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Familiarity with prevailing wage, certified payroll, and job costing is a plus
Preferred Skills:
Experience working with general contractors, subcontractors, or construction managers
Knowledge of lien laws, waivers, and compliance documentation
Strong communication skills for interaction with vendors, subcontractors, and project teams
Compensation:
$20-25 / hour, based on experience, plus benefits including [health insurance, 401(k), paid time off, etc.]
