We started our firm 10 years ago with the intent of turning the industry upside down and being something besides "your father's accounting firm". Our approach to public accounting is founded on the following: * Accounting should not be limited to recording of previous history * This year is too late address last year's tax issues * We need to proactively communicate with our clients on a regular basis * Neither the amount of taxes owed nor our fees should catch our clients by surprise The majority of our clients are on a monthly retainer, and we engage with them on a consultative basis with regular monthly or quarterly meetings. Because we are involved with our clients on an on-going basis, much of the clean-up needed to properly prepare their tax returns has already been done. So, we don't need to approach tax season as our only season, and our workload and work week during busy season are way less than traditional accounting firms. We prefer that our team members actually have a life outside of the office during tax season. Our firm also has a wealth management division with fully licensed financial advisors who serve high net worth investors and provide many of our clients' corporate retirement plans, and manage their private wealth as well. We may be in a small town in Indiana, but we serve corporate clients throughout the US, from Florida to Alaska and multiple states in between. But we are still able to have that small town, family-oriented informal atmosphere.
