Accounting Manager

Accounting Manager Location: Random Lake, WI (On-site), Moving to downtown Sheboygan, WI in 2026 Company: Bertram Communications Job Type: Full-Time Role Overview As Bertram Communications continues to grow, the company is seeking an experienced and hands-on Accounting Manager to lead and oversee day-to-day accounting operations while helping build scalable financial processes for the future. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated accounting professional who enjoys both operational accounting leadership and process improvement within a growing organization. The Accounting Manager will work closely with company leadership and play a key role in strengthening internal financial operations, reporting accuracy, and accounting infrastructure. Key Responsibilities Oversee and manage full-cycle accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, adjustments, and account reconciliations Maintain the general ledger in accordance with GAAP standards Manage payroll processing and payroll-related reconciliations Prepare internal financial reports and provide insights to leadership Coordinate with external CPA firms, auditors, and tax partners Develop, improve, and document accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and process improvements Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives as needed Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation Assist in establishing scalable accounting infrastructure to support company growth Required Qualifications Experience: 5+ years of experience as a Full Charge Bookkeeper or in a similar senior accounting role. Software Proficiency: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including full-cycle accounting responsibilities. QuickBooks proficiency required Advanced Microsoft Excel skills preferred Experience with Bill.com or AP automation platforms is a plus Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. CPA designation preferred. Skills: Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles Prior experience in an Accounting Manager, Senior Accountant, or similar leadership-level accounting role preferred Experience with payroll processing and reconciliations required Strong month-end close and financial reporting experience Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities Excellent communication and collaboration skills Telecommunications, ISP, construction, or service-industry experience is a plus Benefits Competitive salary based on experience.
