Accounting Supervisor Location: North Haledon, NJ (Hybrid/Regional Travel) Recruiter: PrideStaff Financial Salary range : $70,000-$80,000 Job Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Accounting Supervisor to join a passionate team of professionals dedicated to improving operational efficiencies for small to mid-sized organizations, with a heavy focus on the nonprofit sector. As the principal point of contact for a portfolio of clients, you will perform high-level accounting work and communicate the financial health of various organizations to Executive Teams and Boards of Directors. This role offers a strong work-life balance and is based predominantly in our North Haledon office, with occasional travel within the NY/NJ region. Essential Job Functions Operational Excellence Financial Management: Process and manage payroll, AP, and AR; ensure all accounts are current (under 90 days). Reconciliation & Review: Reconcile bank/credit card statements and review monthly financial statements and uncleared transactions. Reporting & Analysis: Prepare monthly financial statements and fiscal projections (cash/accrual); effectively present findings to client leadership. Grant & Audit Oversight: Monitor restricted grants to ensure compliance; manage annual audits and ensure all schedules are completed timely. Strategic Guidance: Provide fiscal guidance to maintain client financial health; assist with the preparation of Form 990, 1099s, and other regulatory schedules. Leadership: Supervise and provide direction to Bookkeepers and Junior Accountants. Client Management Onboarding: Participate in initial setup meetings to define scope of work, reporting requirements, and expectations. Relationship Building: Maintain ongoing contact to ensure high-quality service and active monitoring of deadlines. Problem Solving: Troubleshoot client issues in a timely and professional manner. Requirements Education & Skills Degree: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or MBA is a plus. Experience: Minimum of 3 years of management experience within an accounting department or managing multiple clients. Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP and specific knowledge of nonprofit accounting . Software: Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks . Competencies & Personal Qualities Self-Starter: Ability to plan, prioritize, and multi-task across a diverse client base. Communication: Superior oral and written communication skills, with comfort presenting to Boards of Directors. Collaborative: A strong team player with the ability to lead and supervise others.
