A growing, privately held organization in a manufacturing/distribution environment is seeking an Accounting Manager / Controller to lead core accounting operations and support continued business growth.
This role is open due to active hiring needs and offers a fast-moving interview process, strong visibility to executive leadership, and a clear path for advancement. The organization is open to both:

Compensation
$120K - $135K for experienced Controller-level candidates
$105K - $115K for high-potential step-up candidates
About the Role
This position will oversee full-cycle accounting operations, drive accuracy in financial reporting, and lead process improvements across the accounting function.
You'll partner closely with leadership to improve financial visibility, strengthen controls, and enhance operational efficiency-particularly across cost accounting and inventory-driven processes.
Key Responsibilities
Core Accounting & Reporting
Manage general ledger activities and ensure accuracy of financial records
Lead month-end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting
Review and analyze balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and intercompany transactions
Own P&L analysis, including variance identification and investigation
Cost Accounting & Operations
Oversee cost accounting processes, including inventory valuation and product costing
Monitor and improve inventory management and controls
Assist with P&L allocations and cost analysis to support decision-making
Process Improvement & Automation
Identify and implement improvements in AP/AR processes and automation initiatives
Enhance workflows to improve efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness of reporting
Support ERP/system optimization where applicable
Leadership & Business Partnership
Support or lead junior accounting staff (depending on level)
Partner cross-functionally with operations and leadership teams
Assist in building scalable processes to support growth
Requirements
Must-Have
Experience managing general ledger and month-end close processes
Strong background in balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and intercompany accounting
Ability to analyze financial statements and investigate variances
Hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves mentality in a fast-paced environment
Highly Preferred
Experience in manufacturing or distribution environments
Exposure to cost accounting and inventory management
Experience with process improvement or automation (AP/AR or close process)
Prior leadership experience or readiness to step into a leadership role
