The Senior Manager, Finance will serve as a key strategic finance leader within Thermo Fisher Scientifics Cell Biology Business Unit, a $1.6B global business operating in a highly innovative and fast-growing market. This role provides finance leadership and business partnership across commercial, marketing, and R&D functions while also leading core FP&A operating mechanisms and business unit consolidations.
The individual will partner closely with senior commercial leadership to drive growth-focused analytics, improve investment decision making, and provide actionable financial insights that influence business strategy and execution. In addition, the role will oversee critical business unit planning and forecasting processes and help elevate finance support capabilities across the organization.
This position offers broad exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to work across strategic, operational, and analytical finance activities in a fast-paced and highly visible environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary finance business partner to the Sr. Director of Commercial for the Cell Biology Business Unit, providing financial leadership and analytical support to help drive growth and commercial execution
Provide oversight and coaching for direct report supporting R&D and Marketing finance activities, including forecasting, investment analysis, and strategic project support
Lead commercial analytics efforts, including funnel analysis, conversion rate tracking, run-rate acceleration analysis, and evaluation of commercial and marketing investment effectiveness
Develop financial models, business cases, and scenario analyses to support commercial initiatives, pricing strategies, OEM partnerships, and other strategic opportunities
Support ad hoc analytical projects and strategic initiatives for senior business leaders across commercial, R&D, and marketing functions
Own FP&A consolidations for the $1.6B Cell Biology Business Unit, including financial reporting, variance analysis, forecasting consolidation, and preparation of leadership review materials
Lead and administer key finance operating mechanisms, including:
Weekly business performance review processes
Monthly and quarterly forecasting cycles
Annual Operating Plan (AOP)
STRAP / long-range strategic planning processes
Drive process improvement and simplification initiatives across finance processes, reporting, and analytics to improve efficiency, transparency, and business insight generation
Partner with the Costa Rica Center of Excellence to appropriately route and optimize transactional and standardized finance/accounting activities while ensuring high-quality support to the business
Develop strong partnerships across Commercial, Marketing, R&D, FP&A, and Division Finance teams to support achievement of business objectives

Minimum Requirements / Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
5+ years of progressive finance and FP&A experience
Demonstrated experience partnering with senior business leaders and influencing decision making in a matrixed environment
Strong analytical and financial modeling capabilities, including experience evaluating growth investments and business performance drivers
Experience leading forecasting, budgeting, and planning processes in a complex organization
Proven ability to navigate ambiguity, manage multiple priorities, and solve complex business problems independently
Systems experience preferred, including Excel, Hyperion Planning, EDW, Power BI, and other business intelligence or financial reporting tools
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into concise and actionable recommendations
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $130,000.00$194,000.00.This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
