Position Summary
The Director of Accounting is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of the accounting function, including the integrity of financial reporting, the effectiveness of internal controls, and the efficiency of the month-end close process. This position partners closely with Finance, FP&A, and executive leadership to ensure accurate financial insights, regulatory compliance, and scalable processes across both domestic and international operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and continuously improve the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Partner closely with FP&A to review general ledger activity, provide variance explanations, and ensure alignment between actuals, forecasts, and strategic plans.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development to accounting staff across U.S. and international entities, fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture.
- Serve as the lead accounting subject matter expert for complex transactions, including intercompany eliminations, lease accounting (ASC 842), and other technical accounting matters.
- Oversee the preparation and review of general ledger account reconciliations, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and timely resolution of reconciling items.
- Review and approve journal entries across multiple entities, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and local statutory requirements.
- Act as the primary liaison with external auditors, coordinating audit deliverables, responding to inquiries, and driving timely completion of audits.
- Strengthen and maintain internal controls over financial reporting, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and standardization across the accounting function to enhance scalability and efficiency.
- Support global accounting operations including oversight of intercompany processes, foreign currency considerations, and multi-entity consolidations.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation REQUIRED.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant leadership responsibilities.
- Strong expertise in U.S. GAAP; experience with international accounting standards and multi-entity environments strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex accounting operations and managing high-performing teams.
- Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools; strong Excel skills required.
- Proven ability to lead through change, drive process improvements, and influence cross-functional stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
