Accounts Receivable Specialist
Position Overview
LHH Recruiting is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our client's team in Phoenix, AZ. This role is responsible for managing a portfolio of customer accounts to ensure timely collections, minimize outstanding balances, and maintain strong client relationships. The ideal candidate is highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing priorities independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Receivable & Collections
- Monitor customer accounts for open balances and aging activity
- Perform timely collections outreach via phone and email following established cadence
- Maintain accurate documentation of all collection activities and customer interactions
- Escalate delinquent or high-risk accounts as needed
- Ensure proper follow-up and resolution of outstanding invoices
Billing Support & Dispute Resolution
- Serve as primary point of contact for customer inquiries regarding invoices and payments
- Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies or disputes in collaboration with internal teams
- Work closely with operations and billing departments to ensure accuracy of invoicing
Cash Applications & Account Reconciliation
- Assist with applying customer payments and reconciling accounts as needed
- Identify and resolve discrepancies related to unapplied or misapplied payments
- Maintain accurate customer account records
Compliance & Reporting
- Document all account activity in CRM or ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics 365)
- Provide regular updates on account status and aging trends
- Support month-end close activities related to receivables
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and audit requirements (SOX, if applicable)
Process Improvement & Collaboration
- Participate in team meetings to review aging reports and collection strategies
- Collaborate cross-functionally to improve AR processes and customer experience
- Work closely with leadership on high-priority or escalated accounts
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform other duties as assigned to support business needs
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and code of conduct
- Maintain professionalism and ethical standards in all interactions
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Associate's degree or equivalent experience preferred
- 3+ years of experience in accounts receivable, collections, or related function
- Experience working with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics, Financial & Operations a plus)
- Familiarity with case management or ticketing systems
Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, formulas; Macros a plus)
- Experience with CRM systems and financial software
- Strong data analysis and reporting capabilities

Pay Details: $28.84 to $31.25 per hour
