CPA office - Accounting & Tax Associate

Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated Accounting & Tax Associate to join our growing practice. In this role, you will prepare and review tax returns across a diverse client base, support general accounting engagements, and work directly with senior staff and partners on planning and compliance matters. We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their work, communicates clearly, and is eager to continue developing technically within a collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare federal and state income tax returns for individuals, S corporations, C corporations, and partnerships.
Assist with the review of returns and supporting workpapers to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Perform general accounting work, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and adjusting entries.
Prepare and maintain financial statements and supporting schedules.
Research tax issues and stay current on changes to federal and state tax law.
Communicate with clients to gather information, answer questions, and resolve discrepancies.
Support tax planning and projection work for individual and business clients.
Meet filing deadlines and manage multiple engagements during peak tax season.
Required Qualifications
CPA license, or actively pursuing CPA licensure (candidates working toward the exam are encouraged to apply).
24 years of experience in tax preparation.
Hands-on experience preparing returns for individuals, S corporations, C corporations, and partnerships.
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Willingness and enthusiasm to work on a steady volume of tax returns, including during busy season.
Strong attention to detail and solid organizational and time-management skills.
Proficiency with tax preparation and accounting software, and comfort with Microsoft Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a public accounting firm environment.
Familiarity with multi-state tax filings.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for client-facing work.
