Director of Accounting & Finance

RETS Associates on behalf of our client, a private commercial real estate investment company, is seeking a Director, Accounting & Finance in Solana Beach, CA to lead financial operations across a commercial real estate portfolio totaling approximately 2 MSF. This hands-on leadership role will oversee accounting, reporting, budgeting, and strategic finance initiatives while supporting the companys long-term growth and portfolio expansion strategy.

The Director, Accounting & Finance will oversee property and corporate accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury management, and lender compliance. This individual will also work alongside the team on acquisitions, financial modeling, capital planning, and process improvements while managing and mentoring the internal accounting team. The role offers significant exposure to portfolio strategy, operational leadership, and infrastructure modernization.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
• CPA required
• 10+ years of relevant real estate accounting and finance experience
• Prior experience in public accounting and/or real estate investment management preferred
• Requires management or supervisory experience
• Strong financial modeling and analytical skills
• Advanced Excel proficiency and experience with property accounting software, preferably AppFolio
• Deep understanding of GAAP and real estate financial reporting
• Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills

The position offers a target base salary of approximately $175,000 plus discretionary bonus and comprehensive benefits.
