Spherion Gainesville, FL has a well-established local client seeking a Payroll Supervisor to manage and maintain their payroll system to ensure timely and accurate payroll transactions, compliance, and reporting.

Position Type: Direct Hire, Full Time, Permanent position
Location: Gainesville, Florida
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 PM
Salary: $65,638.00 + Excellent Benefits Package

Responsibilities:
- Processing: Manage payroll system for timely/accurate processing (salaries, hours, leave, overtime).
- Compliance & Controls: Enforce internal controls (reviews, audits, reconciliation's); ensure compliance with federal/state laws (DOL, IRS, FRS, college rules) regarding wages, taxes, garnishments, deductions, and retirement.
- Expert Guidance: Serve as payroll system SME, providing support and training to employees, supervisors, and direct reports.
- Reporting: Prepare and submit all required payroll reports (tax, workers' comp, benefits).
- Systems: Collaborate on payroll system configuration, upgrades, and improvements.
- Customer Service: Resolve complex/sensitive payroll inquiries with confidentiality and high-level service.
- Liaison: Serve as the liaison with Finance, IT and designated external partners for matters related to payroll.

Working hours: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Education:
Bachelors

Experience:
4-7 years

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field + 4 years of professional experience (or 8 years of combined relevant education/experience)
- Working knowledge of: GAAP, fund accounting, GASB, payroll processes, tax/employment regulations, retirement plans, and unemployment reporting
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office and relevant position software programs

Preferred Qualifications:
- FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) or CPP (Certified Payroll Professional)
