About the Role

A well-established, mission-driven hospice organization is seeking an experienced Hospice Accounting Manager to oversee the full accounting function in a Medicare-driven healthcare environment. This is a hands-on role responsible for financial accuracy, compliance, and reporting, working closely with executive leadership.

The ideal candidate brings strong healthcare accounting experience, is comfortable owning the accounting process end-to-end, and enjoys working closely with leadership to support sound financial and operational decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Oversee full-cycle accounting, including general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end close
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Ensure GAAP-compliant reporting and accurate accruals
  • Monitor cash flow, operating margins, and financial performance metrics
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis
  • Manage year-end close and audit preparation
  • Coordinate payroll and perform payroll reconciliations
  • Maintain accounts receivable aging

Hospice Reimbursement & Compliance

  • Reconcile Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance payments
  • Monitor hospice cap calculations, sequestration, and recapture exposure
  • Support hospice cost reports and collaborate with external consultants
  • Ensure compliance with CMS, state, and payer regulations

Budgeting & Controls

  • Prepare budgets and financial reports for leadership
  • Analyze budget vs. actual variances
  • Maintain strong internal accounting controls
  • Support internal and external audits
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3+ years of full-cycle accounting experience
  • Healthcare accounting experience required
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial controls
  • Proficiency with accounting systems and Excel
  • Ability to manage accounting processes from start to finish

Preferred

  • Hospice or home health experience
  • CPA or accounting certification
  • Experience with Medicare reimbursement and cost reporting
