Project Control Accountant

Kforce has a client in McLean, VA that is seeking a Project Control Accountant. This will be focusing on accounting and billing/project functions, so they need to be familiar with these.

Overview:We are seeking an experienced Project Control Accountant to join a fast paced government contracting environment. This is an immediate need for a professional who can step in quickly, operate independently, and add value from day one. This role will focus heavily on project accounting, billing, and financial management within Costpoint, supporting multiple government contracts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage day to day project accounting and billing functions for government contracts
• Set up new projects in Costpoint, including contract structure, CLINs, PLCs, and funding details
• Monitor contract funding, track burn rates, and support de obligations and funding adjustments
• Prepare and submit accurate invoices in accordance with contract requirements
• Perform reconciliations across project, billing, and general ledger data
• Partner with program managers to ensure financial accuracy and contract compliance
• Maintain detailed project financials and support reporting for internal and external stakeholders
• Identify and resolve discrepancies related to billing, costs, and funding
• Utilize Excel to analyze financial data, build reports, and support decision making
• Ensure compliance with government contracting regulations and company policies* 5+ years of gov con experience acting in a similar position.
• Costpoint (recent) experience
• Recent experience as they need to be able to operate independently from day 1
• Excel experience - VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and basic formulas
• Costpoint T&E experience is nice to have
