About the opportunity The Payroll Specialist I is part of the Dayforce Managed Services team and is responsible for delivering professional, accurate and client focused payroll services.The main focus of the payroll specialist is to deliver payroll according to legal compliance, quality, timeliness and within agreed service levels (SLAs).

What you'll get to do

  • Abide by Dayforce’s Code of Conduct, Our Way Values, Policies and Procedures.
  • Be aware of and comply with all Dayforce and client Information Security protocols
  • Work closely with Payroll Specialist II on existing Managed Service account and be supported by senior team member.
  • Assist with managing client related tasks within the case management system ensuring all documentation is complete, accurate, and timely, such as Terminations, New Hires, and Payroll impacting adjustments.
  • Assist with accurate and timely processing of payroll impacting changes, payments, and payroll processing for assigned clients in line with agreed payroll calendar.
  • Ensure all aspects of the payroll cycle, including all statutory and reporting requirements, etc. are processed, reconciled, audited, and transmitted accurately and timely.
  • Provide Payroll support services to clients according to Dayforce Statement of work (SOW), legislative requirements and business needs.
  • Establish and maintain an ongoing relationship to build a deeper understanding of the client’s requirements and their changing needs ensuring strong client satisfaction.
  • Quality control and auditing to ensure accuracy and a low error rate percentage.
  • Maintain assigned client specific work instructions/checklists in line with standard operating procedures.
  • Process payrolls using documented procedures (Detailed work instructions)
  • Attend team meetings/functions and provide feedback and input on operational issues.
  • Collaborate with colleagues within the Managed Services team.
  • Assist with the completion of all end of month and end of financial year reporting and tasks in accordance with legal requirements.
  • Audit/Compliance – adherence to agreed controls and processes, for example SOC1 and ISO
  • Think and spot opportunities for improvement and act accordingly by raising senior team members/Manager.
  • Collaborate in team meetings and provide feedback/input on operational issues
  • Have an “I own it” attitude about payroll deliverables from start to finish

Skills and Experience

  • Basic level payroll processing experience in AUS (NZ would be great).
  • Basic experience and understanding of payroll, taxation legislative requirements.
  • Basic knowledge on legislation, terminations and statutory reporting.
  • Basic payroll product knowledge. A bonus for knowledge with Preceda or Dayforce.
  • Ability to understand and resolve client’s basic issues and provide excellent customer service to internal and external partners.
  • Ability to plan, organise and schedule workflow to meet deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly, and effectively with customers and internal partners.
  • Be a good team player.
  • Good analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic experience in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Basic understanding of post payroll activities
