Help

Responsible for the accure and timely output of accounting da from the Financial Management Informion System (FMIS).

Supplies timely and accure financial stements, fund stus reports reflecting budget combined with accounting da, cost reports, and special rios where approprie through utilizion of the Financial Management Informion System (FMIS).

Provides expertise on and makes manual FMIS entries through the use of over five-hundred manual FMIS transaction codes.

Provides interpretions of accounting report stements and da which points out trends, identifies deviions from plans, and projects da into the future.

Assists the supervisor by meeting with and assisting management officials in applying financial da and informion derived from stements, reports and rios to management problems.

Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.

Qualificions

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualificion requirements:

Basic Requirements:

A. Degree: accounting; or a degree in a reled field such as business administrion, finance, or public administrion th included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law. (The term "accounting" means "accounting and/or auditing" in this standard. Similarly, "accountant" should be interpreted, generally, as "accountant and/or auditor.")

OR

B. Combinion of educion and experience-- least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combinion of accounting experience, college-level educion, and training th provided professional accounting knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following:

Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of approprie type and quality. This can include up to 6 hours of business law;

Certifice as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examinion; OR

Completion of the requirements for a degree th included substantial course work in accounting or auditing, e.g., 15 semester hours, but th does not fully sisfy the 24-semester hour requirement of paragraph A, provided th (a) the applicant has successfully worked the full performance level in accounting, auditing, or a reled field, e.g., valuion engineering or financial institution examining; (b) a panel of least two higher level professional accountants or auditors has determined th the applicant has demonstred a good knowledge of accounting and of reled and underlying fields th equals in breadth, depth, currency, and level of advancement th which is normally associed with successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in paragraph A; and (c) except for literal nonconformance to the requirement of 24 semester hours in accounting, the applicant's educion, training, and experience fully meet the specified requirements.

NOTE: Applicants who meet the basic requirements above are fully qualified for the GL-05 level .

In addition to the above basic requirement:

Educion:

You must have 2 years of progressively higher level gradue educion leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent gradue degree.

Gradue educion must provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

OR

Experience:

You must have least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualificions to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or reled to the position to be filled.

Some examples of this qualifying experience are:

Experience providing expertise on opering, maintaining and modifying accounting systems.

Experience in providing interpretions of accounting reports, stements and da which points out trends, estimes the effect of proposed changes in opering programs on income, expenditures, obligion and costs.

Experience reviewing and resolving accounting discrepancies and using accounting informion to recommend solutions to management.

OR

Combinion of Educion and Experience:

Have a combinion of educion and experience. This experience must have equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the major duties of this position as described above.
