JOB SUMMARY

The Assistant Controller supports the finance and accounting team by performing daily accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, and assisting with month end and year end close processes. This role ensures financial data integrity, supports compliance requirements, and contributes to efficient financial operations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field

8+ years of progressive accounting experience with 4+ years of construction accounting.

Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., ERP systems)

Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas)

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

In office position, remote work is not permitted.

Must maintain highly confidential and sensitive information.

Stay abreast of Federal, State, local and corporate reporting changes.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Spectrum experience and/or similar Construction based ERP.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform duties to assist Controller with day-to-day operation of one or more functions, including but not limited to: payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable or general accounting.

Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, job cost reconciliations, WIP schedules, and variance analysis.

Review financial data prepared by accounting staff and assist in ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal policies.

Ensure compliance with Federal, State and Local Regulations

Acts as a liaison with internal and external auditors in annual and special audit functions.

Track fixed assets and equipment, including asset acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation expense.

Prepare, reconcile, submit and distribute W-2s and 1099s

Responsible for submitting required reports to corporate, Federal, State and local entities.

Assists in the maintenance and implementation of accounting software and databases.

Prepare analysis reports and data request for management, internal departments, governmental agencies and external entities.

Serve as a point of support for all accounting staff, helping maintain daily operations when the Controller is unavailable.

Acting leadership in Controller's absence

Perform other tasks and special projects as assigned.
