Position/Title: Staff Accountant
Reports to: Controller
Primary Roles:
Intercompany Management:
- Record intercompany transactions and reconciliations; resolve discrepancies with sister companies to ensure balance alignment.
- Work with locations to determine the variances and amounts per HFM ledger
- Resolve discrepancies and post corrections based on that review.
- Review InterCo Files for charges and amounts weekly and ensure they are booked to the locations ledger as required.
Fixed Assets / Construction Work In Process (CWIP)
Maintain the ledger for all Fixed Assets of the Company (Utilizing Sage)
Review company assets in line with Crane Policies
Perform additions/Write offs as they are confirmed
Perform physical inventory of all assets
Maintain tracking of the CWIP items
Review all open projects and confirm compliance with Crane Policies
Ensure all items in CIP are fully approved and have correctly identified project#'s
Conducts scheduled meetings with project owners to review all open projects.
Verify spend is in line with budgeted amounts and only proper costs are being capitalized
Capitalize completed projects timely and verify all support documents that tie to the project cost are accounted for
Provide supplemental data to corporate as required.
The Fixed Asset/CWIP role is an important part of managing company property. The items above represent the cost expectations and are not a full list of all requirements. As the business changes tasks may be added or removed based on need.
Payroll Accounting:
- Post the standard entries each payroll cycle to the ledger (Bi-Weekly Payroll)
- Book Interco Charges related to cross charges or other payroll related true ups
- Ensure 401K amounts align with InterCo Recorded changes and variances are trued up or resolved in the same period
- Ensure that SIP and Bonus accruals are aligned with rates and supporting documents align with month amounts. May require involvement of VP/GP for Cryogenics.
- Ensure Vacation accruals align with ADP reports
- Review variances to ensure they are reasonable and reflect a proper business change
- Work with HR when discrepancies arise month to month.
Amortization & Accruals:
- Manage amortization schedules for prepaids, intangibles, and HSA employer contributions via Blackline and record monthly adjustments.
- Ensure that amortization schedules are maintained by the location
- Ensure that all amounts align with Crane limits
- Ensure that schedules are recorded accurately and that required true up for impairment or risk are made in the same periods.
Reserve Management:
Excess & Obsolete Review and Analysis
Review monthly with Supply Chain team to ensure the location understands risk and exposure each month
Analyze trends or changes to understand their underly cause.
Book required entries based on these reviews.
Warranty Reserve
Ensure that the monthly accrual rates are accurate and provide recommendations if changes need to be applied.
Review any items that are released to ensure they belong in the account
Work with Quality/Production/Operations to understand what is being charged and qualify as true warranty.
Lease & Liability Accounting:
Record monthly lease entries based on CoStar schedules
Work with IT to manage NetSuite contract liability allocations (Conroe/Jurupa)
Review changes in monthly amounts to understand the locations exposure or additions.
Reconciliations
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations that are assigned.
- Ensure the accuracy of accounts assigned
- Keep proper documentation and notes for all accounts being reconciled
- Provide feedback and updates on status of reconciling items identified or actions required from reviews
- Ensure completion is timely in line with Crane Policies.
Account reconciliation is a process all accounting members are a part of as they are a key process. Requirements and number of accounts will change based on business need.
Journal Entries
- Perform entries as needed for the location.
- Entries will be generated by the user ensuring
- They have legitimate business need(s)
- They have proper documentation and support

Some entries will be standard monthly items (to review) but may not be required each month.
Audit/Compliance Support
- Items related to Compliance or Audit will be completed by the employee as required
- SOD Review, Internal Audit Request, Customer Setup Forms, Credit Limit Approvals, etc.

Annual Salary Range: $63,200 to $76,600. Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications. Compensation packages also include comprehensive benefits, 401K contribution and match, Paid Time Off, paid holidays, tuition reimbursement and more. Some roles may be eligible for participation in performance-based bonus programs.
