Accounts Payable Consultant

  • Randstad
  • Saint Paul, Minnesota
  • Full Time
We are seeking an experienced, technically proficient Accounts Payable Consultant to independently manage a high-volume processing workflow. To be considered for this role, candidates must have a proven track record executing full-cycle AP operations, including multi-way PO and non-PO invoice matching, complex variance reconciliations, and general ledger coding. This position requires advanced technical comfort with automated ERP software and document management architectures (such as DocuWare, FlexiCapture, Radius, or similar OCR tools). Operating on a flexible 20 to 30-hour weekly schedule, this role is ideal for a consultant looking for part-time work or supplemental income. After an initial onsite onboarding and training period in St. Paul, you will have the autonomy to work independently on a non-traditional or evening schedule with onsite/hybrid/remote flexibility.

The Independence Requirement: This is a plug-and-play role for a self-sufficient consultant. You will be expected to resolve systemic discrepancies independently, clear backlogs with zero hand-holding, and batch exceptional issues logically rather than interrupting the daily team workflow.

salary: $30 - $35 per hour
shift: First
work hours: 8 AM - 5 PM
education: Bachelors

Responsibilities

  • Execute end-to-end processing of complex, high-volume vendor invoices, ensuring precise categorization, matching, and entry across both purchase order (PO) and non-purchase order (non-PO) workflows.

  • Investigate and resolve systemic invoice discrepancies, payment tracking issues, and complex vendor variances by auditing historical data and tracing transactions.

  • Audit automated document capture and workflow management systems (such as DocuWare, FlexiCapture, or Radius) to maintain rigorous data integrity and clear high-volume queues efficiently.

  • Synthesize complex problems and compile outstanding questions into organized, batched communications, minimizing operational disruption to the permanent finance team.

  • Document edge-case exceptions, operational bottlenecks, and system behaviors to update standard operating procedures and streamline workflow continuity.

  • Manage localized, autonomous queues with high accountability, serving as a reliable operational backstop during team PTO and peak business cycles.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal departments to validate receipt of goods, resolve purchasing variances, and secure necessary payment approvals.

  • Support special project initiatives, including system updates, automated workflow testing, and data validation as needed.
