Payroll Specialist - Construction Industry Location: Kennewick, WA Job Type: Full-Time We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist with construction industry experience to join our team. Position Summary The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing accurate and timely payroll for a multi-state construction workforce, including field employees, union labor, and salaried staff. This role requires a strong understanding of certified payroll, prevailing wages (Davis-Bacon), union agreements, and job costing. Key Responsibilities Process weekly payroll for field and office employees Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations Manage prevailing wage and certified payroll reporting Track and reconcile union dues, benefits, and fringes Maintain accurate employee time records, including job costing and labor allocations Prepare and submit payroll tax filings and payments Coordinate with HR and project managers on employee status changes Audit payroll data for errors and resolve discrepancies Assist with year-end processing (W-2s, 1099s) Support internal and external audits as needed Qualifications 3+ years of payroll experience , preferably in construction Experience with prevailing wage / certified payroll reporting (Davis-Bacon preferred) Knowledge of union payroll and multi-state payroll regulations Familiarity with job costing systems Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Foundation, or similar) Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data reconciliation) High attention to detail and accuracy Ability to handle confidential information with integrity Preferred Qualifications Experience with construction accounting systems Knowledge of fringe benefit calculations and reporting Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary: Dependent on Qualification's Health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company match Paid time off and holidays Opportunities for professional growth
