Position Summary
The Staff Accountant will report directly to the Accounting Manager and is responsible for supporting the organization's financial operations through a variety of accounting functions, including bank reconciliations, sales and use tax filings, and fixed asset maintenance. This role requires a detail-oriented and proactive approach to ensuring financial accuracy, maintaining compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and supporting the overall integrity of accounting processes.
Essential Tasks, Duties, & Responsibilities
- Support month end closing process including preparation of accurate journal entries, account analysis and reconciliation
- Perform bank reconciliations to ensure accurate financial reporting and cash management
- Maintain fixed asset records, including depreciation schedules and asset verification.
- Assist with the preparation and filing of 571-L unsecured property tax returns
- Prepare and submit annual reports to the Secretary of State to maintain company good standing
- Manage the renewal process for business licenses, ensuring compliance with local and state requirements. This includes overseeing and maintaining the company's state online accounts related to tax and business filings
- Perform monthly review and matching of intercompany accounts receivable (AR) and accounts payable (AP) balances
- Provide support during internal and external audits, including financial statement audits and royalty audits, to ensure all financial documentation is in order
- Perform other duties as needed and directed by management
