Our client, a globally recognized organization, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Accounting Manager to join their Technical Accounting team on an 11-month contract basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned accounting professional to work on complex and high-impact transactions within a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
This fully remote role is based in Toronto, Canada, and offers the opportunity to partner with cross-functional teams including Treasury, Tax, FP&A, Legal, Corporate Development, and external auditors.

The Accounting Manager will play a critical role within the Technical Accounting group, supporting the evaluation and implementation of accounting treatment for complex and non-routine transactions. The successful candidate will contribute to technical accounting research, accounting policy development, regulatory compliance, and financial reporting initiatives under U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting standards.

Responsibilities
Evaluate the accounting and reporting implications of proposed and ongoing business transactions
Research and document technical accounting positions related to complex transactions under U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations
Provide accounting guidance on areas including long-lived assets, leases, business combinations, financial instruments, hedging, revenue recognition, and stock-based compensation
Partner with internal departments including Treasury, Tax, Real Estate, Legal, FP&A, and Corporate Development
Collaborate with external auditors and third-party consultants to support accounting conclusions and transaction assessments
Assist the SEC Reporting team in preparing complete and accurate disclosures related to complex transactions
Monitor emerging accounting standards and assess potential impacts on the organizations financial reporting and operations
Support the implementation of new accounting standards and policies across the organization
Contribute to SOX compliance initiatives related to technical accounting and accounting policies
Assist in maintaining and enhancing global accounting policies and procedures

Qualifications
CPA designation or equivalent professional accounting certification required
Additional certifications such as CFA are considered an asset
Minimum 6 years of progressive accounting experience
Previous experience with a Big 4 accounting firm supporting large SEC-reporting clients strongly preferred
Extensive technical accounting expertise, particularly in long-lived assets and lease accounting
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
Proven ability to research, analyze, and document complex accounting issues
Experience interpreting transaction agreements and assessing accounting and disclosure implications
Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
