JOB SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of the CFO, the Comptroller has the direct responsibility for the accounting and reporting of all City funds. This position requires extensive "hands on" accounting and auditing knowledge as well as managerial responsibilities. This position prepares and coordinates all fiscal year-end activities to create the final audited financial statements. This position is responsible for the published Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR)This is a full-time Unaffiliated position, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, and provides an excellent work life balance. The salary is not to exceed $146,819.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field. Five to seven years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have the demonstrated ability to produce accounting information and reporting in accordance with GAAP and GASB.
Must have excellent communication skills and a basic understanding of applicable State laws.
Applicable City and State laws and regulations governing the City's activities; principles and practices of sound business communication and decision making; principles and practices of effective management and supervision.
Define issues, analyze information and problems, evaluate alternatives and develop sound conclusions and recommendations; present proposals and recommended courses of action clearly and logically
Organize and set priorities; exercise sound independent judgment within general policy guidelines; understand, interpret, explain and apply City and State laws and regulations.
Develop and implement departmental procedures identifying internal control weaknesses as well as inefficiencies.
Train others in work processes and procedures; communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing;
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of City management and staff; use tact, discretion and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive situations and concerned individuals and customers, both internal and external.
