Preferred Qualifications
Master degree or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with experience in public accounting.
Previous experience in a leadership, supervisory, or mentorshiop role.
Job Summary
Directsplex accounting activities, including month-end close and financial reporting, to ensure accuracy and integrity. Mentors and develops accounting personnel to foster a high-performing team environment. Drives the implementation of new accounting standards and process improvements to support departmental and strategic initiatives.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities
Leads month-end and year-end closing processes by performingplex reconciliations and insightful variance analysis.
Oversees the work of senior and staff accountants, providing guidance and ensuring accuracy andpliance.
Drives the implementation of new accounting standards and spearheads departmental process improvements.
Acts as a primary point of contact for external auditors and manages the preparation of audit deliverables.
Mentors and develops accounting staff through targeted coaching and ongoing professional guidance.
Manages high-impact special projects, including system implementations and merger and acquisition accounting.
Supports the Accounting Manager with budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning initiatives.
Nature and Scope
Displays the highest level of critical thinking and analysis in bringing successful resolution to high-impact,plex, and/or cross-departmental problems. Makes prompt, sound decisions when faced withplex and often contradictory alternatives that result in successful oues.
Operates with considerable latitude. Situations may have little or no precedent requiring original or new concepts or approaches without guidance from others. Reaches decisions under conditions of uncertainty.
Develops or engages/directs others in developing innovative solutions to important, highlyplex strategic and operating problems; cross-departmental considerations are often present.
Work Environment
Located in afortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Most of the time is spent sitting in afortable position and t is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions t may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Education and Experience
Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 8+ years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 5+ years of experience in a related field. Certification is required in some areas.
