Job Description
.
Numbers don't lie and neither do you. If you're the person who catches the rounding error no one else noticed and can't stand miscoded deduction, we want to talk.
West Central Behavioral Health is looking for a detail-driven Payroll Clerk to join a small, high-functioning finance team. You'll own end-to-end payroll processing for a ~150-person workforce, keeping our employees paid accurately and on time while maintaining the compliance standards a federally designated behavioral health organization demands. This isn't a data-entry role it's a seat at the table where precision directly supports our mission.
What you bring:
* 2+ years of payroll processing experience
* Working knowledge of payroll platforms UKG, Kronos, ADP, or comparable systems
* Strong Excel skills and comfort with general ledger reconciliation
* Familiarity with federal and state payroll tax law, including quarterly and annual filing requirements
* The disposition to get it right the first time, every time
What you'll do:
Process weekly payroll for all agency employees, including timesheet review, leave balance verification, and pay adjustments accurately and within deadline. Maintain and update employee payroll records across the full employment lifecycle: new hires, terminations, rate changes, tax elections, and direct deposit. Calculate supplemental items including overtime, shift differentials, and manual checks as needed. Fund and reconcile 403(b) contributions each pay cycle. Prepare and submit federal, state, and local tax deposits and filings on schedule. Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts monthly and prepare journal entries. Maintain payroll liability accounts including garnishments, benefit deductions, and tax withholdings. Partner with HR to reconcile benefit invoices and verify deduction accuracy.

High School Diploma or equivalent, Associate degree in Accounting or related field preferred. Familiarity with payroll systems (e.g., UKG Ready) is a plus Knowledge of payroll regulations and tax laws. Strong numerical skills and commitment to accuracy.
